myHealthHub and Norma. 25 years with us.

May 3, 2023

We are so lucky to have so many amazing clients as part of the myHealthHub and throughout Australia.

We believe everyone has a story to tell and wisdom to share which is why we encourage everyone to share their stories as they may provide guidance and support to many others.

What is myHealthHub?

myHealthHub (also known as the Day Therapy Centre) is a standalone Allied Health Centre that sees clients both in the centre and in their homes.

We have an incredible team there which consists of Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, Occupational Therapists, and an Exercise Physiologist.

We also have treatment rooms and a fully equipped gym where we hold different classes such as strength and balance, breathing and online exercises.

Our clients really enjoy taking part in these classes, one of whom is Norma who is a regular member of the myHealthHub.

What do our clients think of myHealthHub?

Norma has been a client of Sapphire Living for an incredible 25 years and is a regular member of the myHealthHub, joining us for classes to keep fit, healthy and active.

Norma decided to join us back in 1998 (we were called PresCare’s Hopetoun– an allied health and community centre at the time) so that she could not only exercise but socialise and meet other people her age with similar interests.

As time went by, Norma enjoyed her experience so much with us that she encouraged her sister Val to start hydrotherapy and her partner Peter to receive podiatry with us.

One thing Norma feels strongly about is the love and support she received from us throughout the years as she experienced several health issues, one of which being her battle with breast cancer.

Norma recalls how she would always look forward to coming to the centre to see her friends and staff members.

Reminiscing on that difficult period, she appreciated that on the occasions that she wasn’t able to attend, her amazing Physiotherapist, Helen, would still visit her at home and care for her there.

This was a game changer for Norma as she became inspired to not give up as Helen provided her with continued support and encouragement at the time.

When asked what makes a good relationship, Norma said “listen to each other and don’t let the little things get in the way of being happy. Don’t let your anger simmer and don’t hold grudges – life is too precious to be angry at each other.”

After what was a difficult period, Norma is now driving again, attending exercise classes and socialising with the people she met when she first came to us in 1998.

Want to get involved in myHealthHub?

We love getting to hear about her journey and want to share it with others, as a great example of the importance of getting out and about in your community, socialising and the positive impact this can make regardless of what you are going through.

As you age, it is important to continue interacting with others as studies have shown that social isolation can be harmful to your mental and physical well-being.

In addition to connecting and socialising with people in the community, we also encourage our clients to participate in activities.

We are beyond proud of the way our myHealthHub allows our clients to do just this while accessing allied health support as that allows them to live better lives at home.

We love seeing new members at myHealthHub, so if you reside in the Brisbane South area and would be interested in learning more about it, please reach out to your Care Manager.

If you live outside of the Brisbane Area and would like to know more about the on-line classes conducted from the centre phone 1800 773 772. to speak to our Administration Team.

If you do not have a Home Care Package and would like to learn more about the many services we offer, we encourage you to also contact our team on 1800 773 772.
