What is Fulton Place?

At Fulton Place, we are local to Cairns. We support guests and their families to provide stimulating activities and a much-needed break. We provide day and overnight respite care to older adults. Our team consists of experienced staff who have specialist knowledge in supporting people living with dementia.

Our home style environment helps guests feel comfortable and at ease in their surroundings. We have a large kitchen, a dedicated room for watching television and movies, a growing and ever-changing sensory garden and outdoor spaces for activities and relaxation.

Our Services.

Activities.

At Fulton Place, our activities are geared towards meaningful engagement, tailored to each individual’s needs. These include cooking, gardening therapy, outings, music and art therapy, reminiscing, exercise, intergenerational activities, armchair travel, reading, movies, board games, and puzzles.

Social Outings.

At Fulton Place, we offer weekly group excursions. We strongly believe that our guests should stay connected to their local community and arrange excursions around local events and activities. Shorter outings are also part of the weekly recreation program.

Meals.

We provide nutritious meals five times a day for overnight and full day respite guests. We provide three meals for half day guests.

We provide breakfast, a light morning tea, lunch, a light afternoon tea and dinner. Meals are included in the cost of our respite care services.

Transport.

We can arrange transport to and from Fulton Place as required at an additional cost. Please discuss your transport needs with us. Bookings are essential.

We make joining Fulton Place as easy as possible. Just follow the steps below!

GET IN TOUCH.

Start by calling us at 1800 175 315. The call can be made by either the client or their carer. From there, we get a message through to our Cairns office about your call.

PERSONALISED CONSULTATION.

After receiving your message, we’ll reach out to you to have a conversation about your unique needs, preferences, and aspirations. As part of this process, we extend a warm invitation for you to visit our center for a guided tour. This firsthand experience allows you to see our facilities, meet our staff, and get a feel for the supportive environment we provide.

TIME TO ENROLL!

Once you’re comfortable and ready to move forward, we’ll guide you through the enrollment process and provide you with all the necessary paperwork, making sure to explain each step thoroughly. Rest assured, we’ll be with you every step of the way, ensuring a seamless and stress-free enrollment experience.

I have worked in the industry for almost 15 years starting as a Community Care Worker myself. During this time I have completed qualifications in Community Care, Frontline management and care management.

I believe it is advantageous for all staff to gain frontline experience in front of our clients in an effort to understand “Why we do what we do”. I also work on the ethos that I don’t ask any of our staff to do anything I haven’t or won’t do myself!

Outside of work, I love spending time with my husband of 30 years, our 6 grown up children and 10 grandchildren and our Aussie Shepherd “Sally”. We live on the Gold Coast so long beach walks and boating are regular events on our weekend itinerary.

Debbie

Assistant Care Manager

Meet Debbie, a compassionate professional with over 12 years of experience in aged care. Debbie finds fulfilment in helping aged care clientele maintain their independence and receive support in the comfort of their own homes. With a wealth of life experience in this field, Debbie brings empathy and insight to her work every day, striving to make a positive impact in the lives of those she assists.

For Debbie, a perfect day is marked by the gratitude of a client she has helped. Always eager to learn and improve, she aspires to master wound dressing to enhance her caregiving skills further.

Outside of work, Debbie enjoys spending time with her family, indulging in crafting, and tending to her garden. She takes pride in her children’s successes, knowing that her guidance has played a role in their achievements.

Guided by the mantra to never give up, Debbie remains steadfast in her commitment to making a difference—a legacy she is proud of.

Britney

Assistant Care Manager

Meet Britney, a compassionate professional dedicated to supporting clients and carers at Sapphire Living’s Fulton House respite centre in Cairns. What fuels Britney’s passion for her work is the profound impact she can make in the lives of those she serves, whether it’s providing care, lending a listening ear, or offering much-needed respite to carers whom she considers to be the unsung heroes. With a heart filled with passion, honesty, and compassion, Britney approaches each day with a commitment to meet the diverse needs of her clients and their families.

A perfect day for Britney involves leisurely moments shared with her partner and beloved pets, embarking on spontaneous adventures, and relishing the natural beauty of her surroundings. Ever the enthusiast for learning, Britney dreams of obtaining a helicopter licence to fulfil a special dream of treating her hardworking mother to a winery tour. Additionally, she is committed to mastering AUSLAN to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for all members of her community.

Britney’s passions extend beyond her professional and educational pursuits to include water skiing, fostering friendships, and immersing herself in the joy of reading. Guided by her father’s timeless advice to embrace life and view strangers as potential friends, Britney embodies kindness and resilience in all aspects of her life.

Tehgan

Regional Manager

Meet Tehgan, a dynamic leader serving as the Regional Manager in the aged care industry. What excites her most about her role is the opportunity to oversee services that enable her Home Care Package (HCP) clients to age safely in their own homes. Ensuring the continuity of care for her clients fills Tehgan with a profound sense of accomplishment, knowing she’s making a positive impact every day.

Tehgan’s leadership is defined by her unwavering passion for the industry and her clients. This passion stems from her lifelong affinity with the older generation, cultivated from a young age by spending time with residents at her local retirement home.

In her role and within her local community of Cairns, Tehgan appreciates the accessibility of mountains and trails for running, the tight-knit community atmosphere, and the plethora of activities available, from exploring the reef to enjoying the beaches.

For Tehgan, a perfect day starts with strategic planning followed by opportunities to engage in outdoor adventures with her children, like hiking to waterfalls and enjoying picnics by the waterfront.

Kylee

Administration Assistant

Meet Kylee, our Administration Assistant at Fulton Place. She finds immense satisfaction in her role, whether she’s out in the community or providing support in the office. For Kylee, the coolest aspect of her job is the opportunity to make a difference wherever she can, whether it’s through direct assistance or behind-the-scenes support.

When asked about the one thing she’s proudest of in this world, Kylee’s answer is unequivocal: her children. She beams with pride as she describes them as amazing kids who embody a spirit of helping others wherever they go. Their compassion and generosity reflect values Kylee holds dear.

As for Kylee’s aspirations, she dreams of learning to fly a plane. Since childhood, she’s harboured a desire to take to the skies, and mastering the skill of piloting would fulfil a lifelong dream. The prospect of soaring through the air holds an irresistible allure for Kylee, igniting a passion that has endured since her youth.

Naomi

Care Manager

Naomi is a dedicated professional who loves empowering and supporting people. She thrives on seeing the positive impact her work has on others and is driven by a passion for achieving meaningful outcomes. As a people-oriented person, Naomi enjoys intellectual challenges and gains immense satisfaction from engaging with her team to uplift those around her.

Naomi loves her local community for its supportive and inclusive nature, appreciating the shared sense of belonging.  The friendliness and approachability of the people, along with their ability to come together in times of need, especially during cyclones, are qualities she deeply admires.

The greatest piece of advice Naomi has ever received is to treat others how you expect to be treated and to listen more than you speak.

Above all, Naomi is most proud of her three children, who keep her humble and make her proud.
